Cyber Archaeology
Cyber Archaeology
I've loved archaeology since high school. I received my BA with a minor in Business and MA in Anthropology with a Certificate in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science from the University of Cincinnati. I also received an AAS degree in Integrated Avionic Systems from the Community College of the Air Force.
Today I am a cyber archaeologist who is currently a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California in San Diego. Studying under the advisement of Thomas E. Levy, my academic research is conducted with UCSD Department of Anthropology, the Center for Cyber-Archaeology and Sustainability within the Qualcomm Institute, and Scripps Center for Marine Archaeology (SCMA) in association with Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
My research focuses on the integration and applications of various techniques for Cyber archaeology including: Geo-archaeology, Archaeometry, Marine Archaeology, Underwater Photography, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Aerial Photography, SfM/MVS Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Spatial Analysis with Geographic Information Systems, Ancient Human Landscape Reconstruction, 3D Visualization/Analysis, and Virtual Reality Applications. I believe when these techniques are leveraged by archaeologists, we might reach a more complete understanding of the relationship between environmental variability and changes in human culture through time.
Outside of academic research I am committed to sharing my experience and skills through digital media platforms, and building a community of fellow cyber archaeologists.
